10 Weeks 12 Lbs. 3 Oz and growing!!

Lawson is 10 weeks old today and wow has he grown. Though most babies aren't weighed as much as Lawson, they also don't go to the doctor as much as he has. The one thing I did enjoy about going to the doctor is seeing how much he was growing and watching the nurses reactions.
"WOW hes getting big"
"Wait how old is he? I thought he was 4 months not 2!
" Man hes hungry isn't he?"
( Lawson often got hungry at the doctors office.. thank goodness we came prepared with a bottle just in case)

With the increased weight gain, I of course asked the doctor, " is he overweight?" The doctor of course checked the charts and said, "nope hes just made it from the 20th percentile on weight and height to the 58th percentile"!

Yesterday we had some good news and hopes that finally all of the doctors visits and illness are over with so today I put Lawson in this cute little outfit I got him for Easter. Its hard trying to take pictures of a 10 week old who's not so steady holding his head straight up and well has found his hands and likes to listen to himself coo and mommy respond. Here are some of the shots.. ENJOY!!
 Cooing at his mommy

 Just chilling

Look at my hands!! I can move them around

Well hello there!! lol

GO GAMECOCKS!!

This past weekend the USC Gamecock Baseball Team defeated number 1 ranked Vanderbilt. Lawson sported his Gamecock Shirt that Cara gave him to show his support. Jonah says he looks like Huck fin because I forgot to put shoes on him but I like his little feet so unless hes going out of the house i don't put shoes or socks on him.

The doctor again!!!

The past two months have been a bit rough for the Smith family. We have been to the doctor with Lawson way too many times. I feel like at this point I should either get a job there or build a fort in the waiting room. Not because we wait long when we are there, just because of our numerous visits.

Lawson has had an ear infection, scratched cornea, acid reflux which took 3 visits to get him on the right medicine, and a reaction to his vaccines last Friday. He has scared us with Screaming cries in pain and high temperatures, Tried our patience with being inconsolable and colicky, all the time we look at those stunning blue eyes and cute little face and know its all worth it in the end.

I admit I have cried when he has been screaming in pain, called Jonah at 3 am and said, "maybe i am not fit to be a mother," called my parents in just pure terror of what to do with this child and all told "It will get better eventually".

Most of my friends who have had children have not struggled in two months as much as Jonah, Lawson, and I have. The majority of them have their child on some type of routine by now, have been working out, getting back into their pre-pregnancy clothes and just trotting along with a new baby in tow.  Me well for the past 2 months I have tried to figure out what is wrong with my child, Why he has a fever, why isn't he sleeping, why is he crying for 6 hours straight, what are these bumps on him and WHAT AM I DOING WRONG!!

Yesterday we had our most recent doctors visit. Lawson gave us a scare with a high fever and inconsolable crying for about 4 hours Friday and Saturday after having his vaccinations Friday afternoon. Jonah came home from work Friday to help me with Lawson and of course by the time Jonah got home Lawson was sleeping soundly..
Until Saturday arrived. Eventually since Lawson was still running a fever after administering Tylenol and would wake him up from sleeping after ten minutes, we called the triage line. They said take him to the Emergency Room. So as we were about to throw him in his car seat screaming at the top of his lungs a hail storm started. We had large hail, tornado warnings and it was truly scary. The picture below was taken with my cell phone.

Lawson eventually settled down and went to sleep so we kept a close eye on him and his fever to make sure it didn't spike. All was good except for him not sleeping and being inconsolable to the point we took him to the doctor yesterday. The did a full CBC blood work up on Lawson and it all came up  normal. The doctor wanted us to keep monitoring his fever and gave us more tips on getting Lawson to nap.

OK so if you have ever had a child that would not nap during the day you know it can make for one overly exhausted, worn out, grumpy child. And of course NO!!! they don't sleep better at night if they haven't slept all day. I learned this the hard way. The thing that gets me is the tips she gave us we have already tried. She was like OK well he needs to sleep for about 16 hours in a 24 hour period. So today I am not even waiting for sleep queues like everyone says I am just putting him down in his crib wide awake after him being up for about an hour to an hour and half. Its only 10:45 am right now but we are having a successful nap right now and I hope it continues throughout the day. I just want my little munchkin to feel better.

We did reach a milestone the other day and it brought a smile to my face and laughter to Jonah through all the crying, screaming, and frustration. Lawson held his rattle in his hand and shook it. This happened Sunday while Jonah and him were watching the masters. The little things like this make all the frustration, exhaustion, and doctors visits worth every second.
I LOVE YOU LAWSON GRANT VERNON SMITH

Lawsons birth announcement photo shoot

I am trying to get used to my new camera which was my "pushing present" from Jonah. Its a really good camera but I don't know how to use half of the settings on it. BUT I was able to get a lot of good photos to choose from for Lawson's birth announcement. Here are some of my favorite that may or may not have made the announcement.

Aunt Maria gave these fire boots to Lawson. This was at the end of the photo shoot before he melted down and kicked them off since they are still a bit big on him but i had to get some shots with them.

He started off sleeping well despite I took all of his clothes off of him

The Photo shoot ended with me trying to settle him down by putting him back in the basket with the blanket.. I failed and it was then time for a feeding :)

Mom Moms Visit in March

My mom came to visit in March when Lawson had his ear infection and corneal abrasion. I don't have much more time of Lawson napping to write much, but wanted to make sure I shared the pictures of her visit. She was a great help and spoiled Jonah and I with 3 meals a day and 3 course dinners. Jonah was like umm are you going to cook like this for me. I was like umm we have a newborn and I don't have 3.5 hours to spend on dinner.. He laughed! I said no really !! Enjoy the pictures..

2 months

Wow!! its been a long time since I last blogged and alot has happened and that's why I haven't had time. Lawson was sick with an ear infection and corneal abrasion between weeks 3 and 4. Then after he got over that we started to establish a routine, but not before week 6 came along and he started projectile vomiting. YEP!! Acid reflux came about and is no fun for us or our little man. We tried Zantac but that didn't seem to work so now we are on Prevacid. Lawson is actually napping right now and has been for about an hour. I am blogging quickly in hopes to get some pictures up and in the future hopefully I will have more time. Hes back off his routine from being sick but I am praying I can get him back on it in a week and we will get back to our semi-normal lives.

Sorry for the delay enjoy the pictures.

Uncle Paul came to help Jonah start the fence. Thank goodness because it is completed now and Stonewall is sooo happy he doesn't really get into anything anymore.

Pop Pops and Gammy (as Lawson is supposed to call them) came by to visit for about 5 days. It was 83 degrees outside so despite Lawson still not feeling well we decided to have a day trip to the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden's. If there is one thing Lawson likes its being outside. Too bad the child is so fair skinned he will have to be covered in sunscreen for every outside adventure. He really enjoyed the Orchid Conservatory. As you can see he slept through it but at least since it was out of the sun we were able to take him out of his stroller and get some pictures.

Since Lawson is getting bigger and stronger with holding his head up I decided to try out his Bumbo chair. Though hes not quite upright all the way with his head 100% of the time he enjoyed sitting in it and playing.  Please excuse the bibs in almost every picture its part of his attire now with the acid reflux. Poor guy !

BEST BUDDIES!!
Stoney has adjusted really well to having Lawson in the house. Penelope on the other hand is Extremely Jealous because since Lawson has been sick she doesn't get much attention and Stonewall is just content going outside and running around. Stonewall will let Lawson lay on him and loves to give him licks. I can tell once Lawson is old enough to play stoney and him will grow to be even better friends.

Well that's a quick summary of the past few weeks quickly as possible since right now I never know how long Lawson will nap for. Hope this finds everyone well and I will promise to make a better effort to update this blog more frequently.
