I wouldn't recommend knocking on the Smiths door this Halloween, the baby is sick and I just came down with the junk Lawson has.. Well he has an upper respiratory infection and an ear infection.. 

OR so we think...

Friday night Jonah came home from work and Lawson was a little stuff up but not much. We figured it was from teething and no big deal,  at 8:30pm we found out we were VERY wrong!!

Lawson woke up totally congested and unable to breathe, we had to use the saline nose drops and suction to clear out his nose.. He woke up multiple times, it was not fun!

Jonah had to go to work Saturday we decided we would try to wait till Monday to take him to the doctor to see how things went. Well when he woke up screaming and a fever of 102 I figured something was up more than teething.

 

 He cried for 3 hours straight and would take his bottle, this is a kid who eats his whole bottle and sometimes wants more, him not eating is a HUGE sign something is wrong! I was so upset, his first Halloween party was scheduled for 2pm and I had stayed up making cupcakes for it!

Around 11am I realized I had to take him to see a doctor so I looked online for an Urgent care location. Oh great there is one right down the road. I called and asked if they treated 8 month old, OH sure we see them all the time the lady said and well get you in in 15 minutes!

So we hopped in the car, well Lawson was stills creaming we are on about 3 hours now of inconsolable screaming and crying.

I pulled into the parking lot and opened the door to get him out and he stopped and smiled! I don't know what was up but I do know this was NOT FUNNY! 

We proceeded inside checked in and were told once again 15 minutes well have you back since hes so little.. Well 2 hours later we saw a lady who had "DR" in front of her name! Now I know she went to school but I'm not sure how good of a doctor she was or lets say this.... that she had ever examined an infant before.. I need you to hold him.. oh lets flash the light around to get his attention.. Maybe if you bounce him on your knee I can look in his ear. SERIOUSLY!!! Me bouncing Lawson on my lap will help you get a great BUMPY picture into his ear drum!! UGHHH we had waited almost 3 hours for this lady.

Anyways, her diagnosis was an ear infection she thought.. yes I think he might have an ear infection but I am not sure. I will give you a prescription for Antibiotics and a decongestant!

Ok thanks lady!! I got the prescription but Lawson in the car and headed to the GREAT CVS! They always let me drop if off and drive back through in 8-10 minutes. Lawson actually had fallen asleep in his car seat. I guess after being up for about 8  hours he needed a nap! 

 

Since I hadn't eaten since 6 am and it was 3pm I ran through a drive through and headed back to the pharmacy. When I got back the pharmacist said, Umm here's your antibiotic we talked to the doctor that decongestant hasn't been on the market in 3 years. Then she prescribed another one that hasn't been on the market for 4 years. Then she said to use saline drops. Which by the way we have been using and they have not helped.. We left with the antibiotic. That night after Lawson waking up every 30 minutes screaming I had to put him in bed with me with his head elevated. Throughout the night he was up every hour to hour and a half crying because he could not breathe. It was horrible ! He also was snoring louder than Stonewall!

So I have a child with a "I think but not sure" diagnosis and only one of the 2 types of medications he needs!!

Well Lawson isn't better matter of fact now hes coughing and crawling around crying. Tomorrow we are headed to his pediatrician who was closed this weekend and Lawson doctor was not working today. After all the hoopla with the other doctor I decided to wait and see only his Doctor.

 

Maybe Dr. Morris can help give our little guy some relief. Though he still has yet to wear his Halloween costume I did get a few pictures of him last night in his pumpkin PJs.
